Shabab Al Ahli Ready for New Era Under André Jardine

Shabab Al Ahli will begin their 2026-27 ADNOC Pro League campaign away against Khor Fakkan on August 15 as the Dubai club starts a new era under Brazilian coach André Jardine.

The opening fixture is scheduled for 8:45 pm UAE time at Khor Fakkan, giving Jardine an immediate competitive test after taking charge of the first team during the summer.

The appointment represents a significant change for a club expected to challenge near the top of UAE football.

Positive Signs During Pre-Season

Shabab Al Ahli have produced several encouraging results during preparations for the new season.

Their summer programme included a 6-0 victory over Austrian side SK St. Johann, a 4-1 win against Qatar’s Al Sadd and a 2-1 victory over Italian club Udinese.

The club continued playing friendlies after returning from the European camp, including further wins in early August as the squad prepared for competitive action.

Friendly results never guarantee league success, but they have given Jardine valuable opportunities to assess his players and introduce his tactical ideas.

Khor Fakkan Could Be a Difficult Opening Test

Shabab Al Ahli cannot afford to underestimate their first opponent.

Khor Fakkan proved difficult to beat last season, including a 3-3 league draw between the teams in April.

That makes the opening fixture a useful early examination of Shabab Al Ahli’s title ambitions.

The Dubai side will be expected to compete with defending champions Al Ain and other leading clubs for the ADNOC Pro League crown.

Jardine therefore faces pressure to produce results quickly while also building a team capable of performing across domestic and continental competitions.

A victory away to Khor Fakkan would provide the Brazilian coach with the ideal league start and immediately strengthen confidence around the club.

After an active summer and a change on the touchline, Shabab Al Ahli now have the opportunity to turn pre-season optimism into points when the serious competition begins.
